Buy no book on preparing for your consecration to the Most Blessed Virgin - until you read what the Montfort Fathers said about this one.
You know, as do other Catholics who are serious about preparing for their consecration to Mary, that Blessed Pope Pius IX confirmed that St. Louis de Montfort's devotion to Mary was the best and most acceptable form of devotion to Our Lady.
That's because St. Louis said God revealed this devotion to him.
"Predestinate soul, here is a secret the Most High has taught me, which I have not been able to find in any book, old or new. I confide it to you, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit" ("The Secret of Mary", #1).
You also know, as do other serious students of St. Louis' writings, that he said most people who make their consecration to Mary make little to no progress, or fail at it altogether.
Fortunately for you, I was one of those failures. (You'll see in just a second how and why that benefits you.)
But first, here's St. Louis again...
"I have found many people who, with admirable zeal, have adopted the exterior practices of this holy slavery of Jesus and Mary, but I have found only a few who have accepted its interior spirit, and still fewer who have persevered in it" (Secret, #44).
Somehow, I'd missed that. But realizing I was quickly becoming one of those failures St. Louis wrote about, I began reaching out to Montfort Fathers around the world for help. All of them were helpful and encouraging.
The real turning point, however, came when I met with Fr. Battista Cortinovis at the Montfort Fathers' headquarters in Rome.
Fr. Cortinovis is the Postulator of the Cause to have St. Louis declared a Doctor of the Church. When it comes to St. Louis' Marian spirituality, he's an expert's expert. That's because, being in his position, he has the best of the best information about St. Louis' Marian spirituality.
He gave me some excellent resources, and he's directly responsible for my finding the best and most helpful books to understand St. Louis' Marian spirituality, including this one on preparing for your consecration to Mary.
Montfort Father Jean-Marie Texier was one of the world's most respected authorities on all matters pertaining to St. Louis de Montfort's Marian spirituality. He explains it so well, that, in the history of their religious order, the Montfort Fathers called him "a remarkable spiritual writer".
Listen to what they said about this book...
"These meditations are the work of a Montfortian missionary (Fr. Texier), about whom we have said: "He loved the Most Blessed Virgin with the heart of a child; he spoke of her with the heart of his Blessed Father (St. Louis)."
This book shows you the exact method to use in preparing for your consecration to the Blessed Virgin.
Since St. Louis said most people could use some help in understanding consecration to Mary, I decided to translate this book, so you can avoid making the mistakes I made.
If you use the easy practices you discover in this book to prepare for your consecration to the Blessed Virgin, she has to help you because of who she is.
That's why St. Louis affirms...
"The strongest inclination of Mary is to unite us to Jesus Christ her Son; and the strongest inclination of the Son is that we should come to Him by His holy Mother" ("True Devotion to Mary", #75).
And he confidently assures you...
Our Lady is ready to start helping you use this devotion, so she can quickly transform your relationship with her Son - it's up to you to say WHEN.
St. Louis emphasizes that you won't believe what Our Lady will do for you.
"Only experience can teach the wonders wrought by Mary, wonders so great that neither the wise nor the proud, nor even many of the devout can believe them" (Secret, #57).
