About the Book

"The Price of Loyalty" covers greed, ambition, arrogance and treachery. It describes how insider trading on the stock exchange is suspected and pursued by the authorities. Three strong characters are bound to each other to make money - but at what price? Julia, a talented dissector of corporate accounts, provides reviews for the boss Perry. Then he offers large funds through his investment consortium, in exchange for inside information. This action makes vast private profits for himself and his cronies. However, one of his "cronies," a widower named Rupert, persuades Julia that what she is doing may not be entirely legal. He offers help! His shady past does not emerge until later, but by then Julia is committed. The financial authorities suspect Perry of carrying out "suspicious transactions." Rupert is forced to become a mole, required to report back in due course to enable a prosecution. The Met police become involved.
About the Author: DAVID DEANSHAW has had a varied business career and has been involved with every community in which he has lived for over 60 years. Born in Manchester during the Second World War, he was brought up in Wythenshawe which, at the time, was the largest council estate in the UK. There, he was a youth leader in the 60s before being moved to London by his employer where he experienced the City and corporate life in depth. He worked initially in banking, then as a management consultant. He has had a life in local politics, developing skills in the field of public housing and an in-depth knowledge of the town-planning process which has been invaluable in his involvement with the regeneration of run-down town centres in the Midlands, where he lives now. All of this work entailed dealing with government ministers and senior civil servants over several years. He has had several letters of a political and business nature published in The Times, The Sunday Times and The Birmingham Post. He has had short stories published in the annual production of CafeLit - editions 4&5. He is a member of three writer's groups. When asked why he joined a writers' group some years ago, he said, "I have been writing business fiction for ages, so I thought I would try real fiction." He began to use his experiences by writing a mixture of short stories, whilst planning on writing at greater length about the worlds of both finance and politics. He draws upon his time spent as a management consultant, which showed the weaknesses of some corporate operations, and his life in politics in local government where he saw at first hand behind-the-scenes in-fighting as well as the tortuous process of dealing with obstructions created by other politicians or in some cases professional officers. His first novel, The Price of Loyalty, is based on the greed, ambition and arrogance he found watching the activity of the City of London, entwined as it is with political machinations. He is writing a sequel which continues the story of Julia, Rupert and Perry, together with a prequel involving some of the older characters.
