About the Book

PRIVATE ESTATES is a rare jewel in the world of architectural monographs, welcoming the reader behind the gates of some of today's most inspiring residential estates. Whether it is a contemporary manor, a French chateau, a beachfront villa or a modern mountain chalet, the internationally acclaimed architectural firm Landry Design Group has skillfully designed each project with an exquisite attention to detail and a keen understanding of their clients' unique lifestyles. The firm's ability to create within the influence of architectural precedents or to freely invent within contemporary parameters displays a unique talent that has attracted the attention of today's movers and shakers, including such notable clients as Eddie Murphy, Kenny G, Wayne Gretzky, Mark Wahlberg, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen. Graced with an introduction by Joseph Giovannini, text by Janet Eastman, over 400 inspiring color photographs and beautifully rendered drawings convey the unparalleled versatility and the inspired vision of Landry Design Group.
About the Author: Richard Landry, AIA, founded the award-winning Landry Design Group, Inc. in 1987, located in Los Angeles, California. With clients throughout the United States, Canada, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, France and Russia, the firm continues to raise the standards in high-end residential architecture. In recognition for his achievements in the field of architecture, Richard Landry was named by Architectural Digest as one of the top 100 architects/designers in the world. In 2004 he was presented with the prestigious "Stars of Design" award from the Pacific Design Center and in 2007 he became a part of the "Robb Report Recommended" list of best architects.
Journalist Janet Eastman has traveled the world covering design shows and interviewing the most famous architects, interior designers and product designers, most recently for the Los Angeles Times and national magazines. She lives with her partner Ron Rezek on vineyard property in Ashland, Oregon.
Joseph Giovannini has written on architecture and design for three decades for such publications as the New York Times, Architectural Record, Art in America, Art Forum and Architecture Magazine. He has also served as the architecture critic for New York Magazine and the Los Angeles Herald Examiner and is currently a contributor to numerous publications including Architectural Digest. He lives in New York with his wife, Christine Pittel, and daughter Isabella.
Mr. Giovannini, a graduate of Yale, also has a Master of Arts degree in French Language and Literature from La Sorbonne, Paris, Middlebury College Program as well as a Master of Architecture Degree from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. He has taught advanced and graduate studios at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, UCLA's Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning, at University of Southern California, School of Architecture and University of Innsbruck.
Mr. Giovannini has won numerous awards, grants and honors from the Art World Magazine/Manufacturer's Hanover Trust for distinguished newspaper architectural criticism, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Graham Foundation and commendations from the Los Angeles Chapter of the AIA and the California Council of the AIA.
