Excerpt: Purulia Sadar West subdivision (Bengali: ) is a subdivision of the Purulia district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Jhalda municipality and seven community development blocks: Jhalda-I, Jhalda-II, Jaipur, Arsha, Bagmundi, Balarampur and Barabazar. The seven blocks contain 59 gram panchayats and two census towns. The subdivision has its headquarters at Jhalda. Apart from the Jhalda municipality, the subdivision contains two census towns and rural areas of 59 gram panchayats under seven community development blocks: Jhalda-I, Jhalda-II, Jaipur, Arsha, Bagmundi, Balarampur and Barabazar. The two census towns are: Balarampur and Barabazar. Rural area under Jhalda-I block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Ichag, Jhalda-Darda, Mathari-Khamar, Tulin, Ilu-Jargo, Kalma, Noyadih, Hensahatu, MarumOsina and Pusti. There is no urban area under this block. Jhalda police station serves this block.
