About the Book

Once upon a time, it was believed that Africa never knew philosophy as a systematized, formalized way of thinking. Philosophy was then seen as the sole privilege of the West wherein it was said to be given birth about 2500 years ago and it was denied to African people unduly. According to Parrinder, "to say that African people have no system of thought is, explicit or assumed, would be to deny their humanity". Therefore, one major purpose behind this denial was to "dehumanize" black people so that the West would wish or have to "re-humanize" the "black souls" by bringing so called western civilization to them. However, nowadays, as the philosopher Anthony Kanu points it out, the question of whether or not there was something called "African Philosophy" is just a "matter of historical interest". Many would surely not agree with this point of view, but if we define philosophy as a laborious effort of rational thinking about Nature itself, Human Nature, Life and Death, the Universe, the Godhead, Time and Space, and the list of categories goes on, then no doubt we can aver that Africa indeed knew philosophy. What is so specific about this philosophy of Africans would first be the subject of this book's part I, thereafter we shall see the nature of a kind of African philosophy called Negritude in a philosophical perspective, and finally we shall discuss the issues of identities that seem to permeate contemporary African philosophies.
About the Author: Passionate about literature and philosophical works, Mr El Moctar Diakite is a young Malian bilingual author in the literary landscape and why not philosophical as testifies the present work, a curious author in a philosophical sense who, after following an academic course at the Howard University Education in Washington D.C in the disciplines of language and Anglo-Saxon literature, subsequently followed at the University of the District of Columbia training series of intensive courses on Francophone African Literature while opting for an academic major in "Economics ", holds a graduate degree from the Paris Graduate School of Management with a double major in Finance and business Management . During his training at the center of English-language studies at Howard University Education, he was involved in publishing for the center newspaper or the students' journal a series of articles on the value of the teacher emphasizing notably his language teacher in American Literature in her ability to make students proficient at speaking, writing, and doing academic research A letter of thanks to Cara Fulton, followed by an elaborate letter, awarded by the Elder and Leemur Home Edition based in Canada, the so-called " award winning letter " reviewed and published in the literary work of young English-speaking writers entitled the Authors of Tomorrow released in 2006. He followed all the above works by a critical work in the French language on the negro philosophy entitled De la Critique des Negritudes published by the free online auto edition House THEBOOKEDITION paying "royalties" to compensate authors of literary works after they have been purchased by potential readers . His choice to write books hardly hinders his professional obligations and until recently, the author held the position of Contracts Manager in a subsidiary of the Chinese company HUAWEI Technology International in Mali .
