About the Book

Reformed theology was developed by taking verses out of context, by using poor and dishonest exegesis, by creating things that don't exist, by contradicting clear teachings of the Scriptures, by making false assumptions and non sequiturs, and by merging pagan philosophy with Christianity. The result is a theology that was never taught by the apostles or the early church. It is a theology that stresses God's sovereignty at the expense of His compassion. It creates a God more interested in displaying His majesty than in sharing His agape love. It turns the Good Shepherd into a bad shepherd. Belief in Calvinism requires the abandonment of any sane understanding of justice, free will, or the heart of God. Ultimately, the God Calvinists believe in is a monster, and their gospel is anything but "Good News" for those who are not selected by God to be saved.
About the Author: ABOUT THE AUTHOR Gil VanOrder, Jr. received a B.A. degree in psychology from Houghton College and began a masters program at Fuller Theological Seminary which was interrupted when he moved to Hawaii in 1990. While in Hawaii he directed a homeless shelter for Catholic Charities for seven years. He has over twenty years experience in full-time youth evangelism including work with Youth For Christ and Young Life. At various times he also served as a church youth director. Today, he lives just north of Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, Sandee. They have two children and five grandchildren. He and his wife are members of Sugarloaf United Methodist Church in Suwanee, Georgia. In addition to "Reformed Theology's Deformed Exegesis," Gil has written several other books including "Jesus or Mohammed: Love or Law" which compares the founder of Christianity with the founder of Islam showing the profound differences between the two. In his book "8 Ways to Show Your Kids You Love Them," Gil shares lessons he learned as a father of both a son and a daughter. In yet another book, Gil tells of his personal experiences working with urban youth involved in a racist Muslim cult entitled "Jesus Loves Allah." His most recent work is entitled, "Blindfolded: Why We Can't See God." This book explains the various things that block our vision of the Almighty. His semi-autobiographical book, "Why Do We Have to Deal With So Many Troubles?," offers advice on how to cope with life's many problems. Eric Liddell said in the movie "Chariots of Fire" that when he ran he felt God's pleasure. Gil says when he writes he feels God's pleasure. He's convinced this particular book was written with a great deal of leading by the Spirit of God. You may contact the author by emailing him at vogil@vanorders.net.
