About the Book

There are things in life that happen to us that we have no control over. Things like which parents we have, where we grew up as a child, who our siblings and other family members are, and how we were raised as children are things we usually have no say about. Yet, these things shape us into the adults we are to become. Good, bad, and/or indifferent, we all are a product of how we were raised. When a child is damaged at a young age, what becomes of that child? How do you recover from abuses that you received at the hands of the ones who were supposed to nurture you? What happens to the child with an absentee father? What happens to the child that looks for love in all the wrong places, and winds up strung out on drugs, with nowhere and no one to turn to? What happens to the child who acquires addictive personalities that they believe is "normal"? Can they ever recover? In this book, you will see how an all-loving God rescued a woman who thought there was no way out of the hole that she had dug for herself.
About the Author: Cheryl Lynne Thacker Brown, born in The Bronx, New York on March 8th, 1967, is the youngest child of the late Willie Lee Thacker and Mattie Boyd Thacker, and was also born on their 17th wedding anniversary. She has 4 sisters, 5 brothers, and 2 brothers who are deceased. Although she was raised in church, singing on the choir and regularly attending services, she was strongly influenced by the environment where she lived. By age 11, she took her first alcoholic drink; by 13, she was smoking marijuana and snorting cocaine; and by 17, she was a full blown crack addict. By age 21, she became pregnant with her first child. and she continued to smoke crack cocaine daily. She had her first daughter in 1989 in her 7th month of pregnancy, and though the child was only 4lbs., 13 oz., and had to be kept in the hospital for several days, she survived! She continued to smoke crack during her next pregnancy, and in 1991, she had a son. He, too, had survived during his mother's addiction. Two weeks after giving birth to her son, she took her children and moved to Ohio. She seriously wanted to be free, but crack made one last attempt to destroy her destiny. She began using again, and once again realized she was pregnant in 1995. By now, her family had given up hope of her ever recovering and was planning to take her children as soon as she gave birth. BUT GOD HAD ANOTHER PLAN! On February 18th, 1995, she took her last hit of crack cocaine, called upon the Name of Jesus to deliver her, and, TO GOD BE THE GLORY; she has never taken another hit! She went after God as fiercely as she went after crack, and in 2000, she heard the call to preach God's Word. In July, 2011, Cheryl published her first book, "The Re-Making of an Addict", which has been sold out on Amazon.com several times since released!! Soon after the release of her book, God led Elder Cheryl to start "Chosen 4*His*Glory Ministries, Inc.", right in the living room of her own home! Through Elder Cheryl, God has proven that what the devil meant for bad, GOD WILL turn it around for GOOD! Her favorite scripture is Psalms 121:1-2-"I WILL LIFT UP MY EYES UNTO THE HILLS FROM WHENCE COMETH MY HELP. MY HELP COMETH FROM THE LORD!"
