About the Book

The Rudimental Coordination Method is intended to provide foundational exercises that could be used to build basic coordination, groove, and feel by utilizing set musical drum phrases known as the 40 essential rudiments. Instead of practicing endless variations of singles and doubles, Rudimental Coordination provides a platform for implementing musical phrases in groove and soloing. This book allows for the transfer of snare chops to the drum set.
About the Author: Aundre Wesley is a modern percussionist, linguist and educator who specializes in music of the Americas, Composition, and Linguistic theory as it applies to music theory. This classically trained musician is well-versed in Percussion, Drum Set, Piano, Guitar, and Voice; all in multiple genres (Classical, Afro-Caribbean, Brazilian, American). Aundre has played with artist such as: Michael Watson, Andre Hayward, Red Young, Ibrahim Aminou, Bruce Saunders, and Ephraim Owens. Bands in which he was a part of include: Zoumouchi, Bloody Mary Bebop, Axis Unity, and Breach of Quiet. After his tour with the Marine Band from 2007 to 2011, Aundre spent one year volunteering at Plummer Middle School and Nimitz High School in the Aldine School District in Houston, Texas. While volunteering, Aundre developed the idea for his first instructional book, Rudimental Coordination, which became the basis for his drum set pedagogy and application of linguistic theory to music theory. After a year of volunteering, Aundre pursued a jazz performance degree at the University of Texas at Austin in 2012. Under the direction of Wayne Salzmann II, Aundre continued to pursue the idea of his first book and found that a degree in Linguistics would better suit his purposes in his career. In the summer of 2013, Aundre switch to Linguistics and later wrote his first book, Rudimental Coordination, in the spring of 2014. Shortly after writing his book, he took some time off to be with family and began to teach percussion at his Alma mater, Nimitz High School. After a year of teaching, Aundre decided to complete his degree in Linguistics and develop a new approach to technical analysis in music based on Linguistic theory. His first piano CD, 13 songs in 12 keys, is a work that marks the first of many that combines Linguistic theory and music theory. Aundre is currently a student at the Univerisity of Texas at Austin in pursuit of a Linguistics degree with a focus on Linguistic theory and its application to music theory.
