About the Book
Jesus' Hebrew name is Yeshua which means salvation. His coming is in fulfillment of the promises of God to send salvation to His people. God recorded these promises through Moses and the prophets in the Old Testament, the scriptures from Genesis to Malachi. Moses writes in Genesis 3:15, "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." Yeshua says that all the scriptures are about Him. "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are that which testify of me." John 5:39 "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me." John 5:46 "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." Luke 24:27 This volume contains twelve in depth studies of a few of the places in the Old Testament which write about Yeshua starting with the gospel hidden in the ancient letters of the Hebrew alphabet and continuing with showing how puzzling rituals are all about Yeshua! Each lesson has a student notes section and discussion questions for use individually or with a group. Join us as we tear out the blank page between the Old Testament and the New Testament and see the scriptures as one unified book given to reveal the character of God and the two comings of Yeshua! " ... We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." John 1:45
About the Author: Brenda and I have been Christians for all of our adult lives. We met in college and came to know the Lord in the late 70's. We were married in 1981 and now reside in Washington State where we raised our two children. Brenda is a high school math teacher and I am a small business owner. Both of us have been active in a local church while raising the kids. We had always felt a desire for a greater understanding of God's word and a deeper relationship with the LORD. We have been involved in our current church, El Shaddai Ministries for several years, and are learning more each day about the character of God and His incredible mercy in that He planned our redemption from the very beginning of creation. As we learn more and more about who God is, we have become closer to Him and know what an incredible gift His salvation is. We can't help but share about God and the redemption He offers through His son, Yeshua (Jesus). And so, we want to share some of what we have learned. The Shadows of Messiah in the Torah Volume 1 is the first of a four volume Bible study showing the Messiah Yeshua is the focal point of the Old Testament. Our inspiration is Jesus' words when He spoke to two of His followers on the road to Emmaus after His resurrection. This has become our theme verse and is found in Luke 24:27, "And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the scriptures concerning himself." What did Jesus teach them? What scriptures was He referring to? The only scriptures in existence at that time were those that we now call the Old Testament. It didn't take long to realize that the entire body of Old Testament scripture is about Him. Rediscovering our Hebrew roots in the Old Testament scriptures has been a journey of incredible joy and enlightenment. It is our hope and prayer that you too will embark on a journey of discovery in God's word. Shalom and Be Blessed Dan and Brenda Cathcart
