About the Author: Kate Brewer, PT, MBA, GCS, RAC-CT, is the president and owner of Greenfield Rehabilitation Agency, providing physical, occupational, and speech-language pathology services in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. She is also the president and owner of Progressive Rehab Solutions, a consulting firm focused on Medicare compliance and performance management for therapy services.
Brewer has presented nationally on documentation, coding, reimbursement, compliance, and practice management issues and currently serves on the editorial board of many publications including HCPro's Billing Alert for Long-Term Care.
In addition, she serves on the Provider Communications Advisory Board for National Government Services and has served the American Physical Therapy Association at various levels.
Theresa A. Lang, RN, BSN, WCC, is the vice president of clinical consulting for Specialized Medical Services, Inc., in Milwaukee and has worked in long-term care for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Specialized Medical Services 17 years ago, she served as a director of nursing for a 227-bed subacute care facility, as a corporate nurse consultant, and as an assistant administrator of a rural hospital, clinic, and nursing home.
