About the Author

Prof. Prodyut Bhattacharya, is Ex-Dean of University School of Environment Management at GGS Indraprastha University, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, New Delhi. He is Professor in the area of Natural Resource Management. He has twenty-five years of experience in research, training and teaching in post graduate and PhD levels. He has been a fellow of Beahrs Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) of the University of California, Berkeley, USA and Visiting Scientist fellowship (JSPS) under the University of Tsukuba, Japan. He received advance training on community forestry and microfinance from RECOFTC, Kassetsart University, Bangkok, and University of Naropa, Colorado, USA, respectively. He has worked as faculty with the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, under MoEF & CC, Government of India (1994-2010). He was the Founder Coordinator to set up the International Centre for Community Forestry (ICCF) at IIFM, Bhopal. He has published more than 125 research publications in international and national journals including articles, technical reports, and conference papers, and has co-authored/edited five books. He has completed 10 International sponsored research projects (ITTO, IIED, DFID, IUCN, JICA, IDRC etc), and 14 other nationally sponsored research projects from multilateral/bilateral donors, government and corporate bodies. He is a well recognized teacher, widely travelled to more than 25 countries with different academic assignments. Prof. A. K. Kandya, is a retired Professor of Botany from Dr. H. S. Gour University, Sagar, M.P. He has a long experience of teaching post graduate students of Forestry and Environment. He has supervised 22 students in Ph.D. programs. He had been a DAAD Fellow (1976-1978) at the Institute of Forestry, Hamburg, Germany, and at the Institute of Silviculture, Freiburg, Germany (1983). He had also been a JSPS Fellow (1985-1986) at the Department of Forestry, Ehime University, Matsuyama, Japan and Guest Professor at the University of Applied Sciences, Eberswalde (2001 and 2005). He delivered invited lectures and chaired sessions at the IUFRO International Symposia at Curritiba, (Brazil, 1984) Tsukuba, (Japan, 1985), Colombo (Sri Lanka, 1987) Harare (Zimbabwe, 1987) and several places in India. He has edited/written six books and has published more than 100 research papers, monographs and review articles in journals of repute in and outside India.
