About the Author: A student of Jeffery Khaner and Jean Larson, Mr. Jason Blank has a Bachelor of Music from Southern Methodist University. He has performed concertos with the Delaware Symphony, the Texas A&M Orchestra, the Wilmington Orchestra, and was a finalist to perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra as a soloist. He was one of only two freshmen in Southern Methodist's history to win the school concerto competition as a freshman. He has performed in masterclasses for Julius Baker, Brad Gardner, Jeanne Baxtresser, Gary Schocker, and Marzio Conti. He has also performed with Voices of Change, the Irving Symphony Orchestra, the Brazos Valley Symphony, and played in the orchestra for the Graz, Austria vocal festival. Jason has been a Guest Artist/lecturer at the National Flute Association Annual Convention, as well as flute festivals and educator conferences in Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and New England. While in Texas, Mr. Blank had a successful teaching studio in first the Dallas then Houston markets, teaching up at 100 students a week. Jason served as both a product manager and artist for the Wm S. Haynes flute company, performing for and educating students first in Texas, then throughout North America. A specialist in working with high school and middle school students, Jason has developed a system for non-flutist band directors to see instant and lasting changes in their flute section. After leaving Haynes, Mr. Blank became the sole distributer for Bernhard Hammig handmade instruments throughout North America, as well a marketing and sales consultant to other music related business. He also is a partner in the Fluterscooter case cover line, as well as the Green Golly Project, a protean initiative for saving music education in America.
