Tourism today has acquired the status of modern industry. Both Government and Private Sectors have planned tourism as an essential component of their economies. The growth of this industry has been primarily profit oriented with little regard for environmental concerns. Unplanned tourism especially in the fragile Himalaya can, therefore, prove to be ecological damaging.
