About the Book

Years after an asteroid destroys North America, the survivors shelter in the last city standing. Isolated from a world that has disowned them and the infected who will destroy them, one woman battles the tipping point between extinction and evolution to change everything. A thrilling twist on the whole post apocalyptic genre and if you think you knew everything about Zombies you didn't even see this coming. Carl and his son Arron are running for their lives through desperate crowds to a waiting jet. They manage to escape the city in time to send crucial data before a massive asteroid impact destroys their plane and kills millions. Years later in the last North American city, children recount how the dust from the asteroid infected most of the survivors turning them into monsters. The last of humanity became isolated in their city for fear of the infected to the East and the firepower of the West, designed to prevent further infection to the rest of the world. Jones works as a security officer patrolling the city barriers while moonlighting as a geneticist seeking a cure for the infection. Weighed down by the guilt of the loss of her family and frustrated by the chaos in the city, she seeks solitude in an underground reservoir, the city's only water supply. Food is limited, distributed by a corrupt ID band system. Some survivors look to escape using valuable art to bribe their way, but it is a ruse by Anders, head of city security, to ensure that they are incinerated by the West's defence system. With food running out and a diminishing supply of the drug Radizone Z the only known control of infection, President Zara chooses a solution to save herself and her corrupt Government through the work of the Professor, her scientific advisor. Jones and her partner Davies discover the infected are massing in numbers on the city edge, before being tasked to locate the source of a mysterious signal. Led to 'the town' they are attacked by the infected, only surviving when one of the creatures saves Jones. The creature is captured by Jones and named X as it shows a 10th sign of viral transition. So begins a roller coaster chain of events that could ultimately lead to the destruction of the human race or its salvation. Don't fear death, fear the dead, for they truly know the truth.
