Hey there! I am Brandon and the author of this book. The thing I love most in the world is being able to recollect my past experiences and document them into words in a book. I am not famous, or influential, but the reason I write is exactly that. I am a normal guy, living in a crazy world, that has had to deal with many of life's melons to finally land on his feet and understand exactly who he is. My first book, Through my Rose Tinted Glasses, is what it says on the tin, the rosey bits of life. The happy, fun bits of discovering yourself. Everything is new, I am finally owning my queerness and I am a fun, happy lad! However, with every happy bit of life, can come a storm cloud, a Typhoon if you will of negative and bad emotions. Fighting for your new found self. This book is that cloud. To say this book was difficult to write is an understatement. I had always tried my best to stick the bad thoughts away in a secret place, deep in my mind where no one, not even I could find them. But as time goes by and as I started to write this book, it soon became evident that to tell this story as authentically as I wanted too, I need to embody the emotions I felt at the time in order to write about them. This meant many breaks, setbacks, changes, and edits. Time outs for my own mental stability, and a lot of digging for motivation to get the book finished. When I look at the finished product, and all the hard work that has gone into it, I feel happy, and complete, as I can now close this chapter of my life for good, and the two-part series of my University experience is now over. I want to show you the other side of coming out, the side that doesn't really get portrayed in the media. Also, this book leans less to just coming out, but to mental health itself. University is such a turbulent whirlwind of emotions that can either be the time of your life or can be a time of upset and heartache. I am going to take you on a journey of darkness, exploring touchy topics that can be a little uncomfortable at times. However, every part of the story has its place, and needs to be told for the wider picture to be clear at the end. I also wanted to push myself further, as a writer, to produce a more emotionally charged and personal memoir of the second half of University, having covered the happy juicy bits in my first book, now its time to tell the stories that I have locked away until now. Some of these stories haven't even been told in person, they have just been locked away in the deep, dark chasms of my memory, gathering dust and originally condemned to never see the light of day. But as someone once told me, being able to transfer those into words, Thoughts to Words if you will, those memories will no longer haunt or take space in the mind, and in turn free up space to fill with new happy memories. Memories that are made on the foundations of the struggle and heartbreak.Nothing in life is simple, and nothing in life can be easily gained, however, you can make it easier for yourself, but never giving up and always seeing the light. If you only focus your vision on the darkness then all you are going to see is darkness, and that light at the end of the tunnel will seem very, very far away. I can say this because I am a victim of doing this, for far too long during University. However, when you start to turn your attention to the good parts, even during those rocky times in life, you will already feel lighter and more motivated to reach that light, as it will look far more reachable. This is the main lesson that this book aims to tell, my story and my University experience is simply the vehicle used to convey this lesson.On that note, I hope you enjoy the book the lesson is easily understood. As much as this book talks about many dark things, that doesn't mean its immune to humour and happy times too.
