Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Interkulturelle Kommunikation, Note: 1,0, Universität Wien (Publizistik- und Kommunikationswissenschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit setzt sich vordergründig mit interkultureller Kommunikation in Organisationen am Beispiel der Wiener Polizei auseinander und geht der Frage nach, ob ihr Bekenntnis zu Diversität gelebte Vielfalt oder Vielfalt unter uniformierenden Einschränkungen, also Diversität in Uniform oder doch uniforme Diversität bedeutet. Um eine Antwort zu finden, werden zuerst Organisationen im Allgemeinen beleuchtet, ihre Kultur, ihre Kommunikation und die Voraussetzungen für die erfolgreiche Implementierung von Diversitäts-Management, um die personelle Vielfalt optimal nutzen und fördern zu können. Denn Organisationen sind meist für die Bedürfnisse der Mehrheitsgesellschaft gestaltet. Wie aber müssen sie intern auf Vertreter etwaiger Minderheitengesellschaften reagieren? Müssen sie bestimmte Voraussetzungen erfüllen, bestimmte Umstrukturierungen vornehmen oder sich einfach auf den Assimilationswillen der Betreffenden verlassen? Die Wiener Polizei setzte in diese Richtung bereits einige wirkungsvolle Schritte - besonders mit der Rekrutierungsinitiative "Wien braucht dich!", um Diversität über den Neuzugang in die Organisation zu bringen. Dabei und in der internen Umsetzung versucht sie einen eigenen, klaren Weg zu gehen, der sich deutlich von Bevorzugungen wie Benachteiligungen distanziert, den Nutzen von Kollegen anderer Herkunft in sprachlicher wie kultureller Hinsicht anerkennt und einzusetzen weiß, aber sich klar gegen Unterschiede jeglicher Art ausspricht. Letzteres liegt zum einen an der militärischen Tradition der Polizei, welche nicht zuletzt durch die Uniform und die ausgeprägte Hierarchie von Anfang an Unterschiedliches zu vereinheitlichen sucht und zum anderen an der ebenfalls hierarchisch ausgeprägten Kommunikation mit der Außenwelt, mit der Bevölke
