U.S. Route 258 is an north-south United States highway that runs for 218 miles (351 km) from Jacksonville, North Carolina to Fort Monroe, Virginia. The route connects cities and towns in the North Carolina Inner Banks and the Virginia tidewater region.US 258 begins in Jacksonville, with an intersection with US 17 Business, going east to concurrency with NC 24. Before leaving Onslow County, it separates with NC 24, going north to Kinston. With a short concurrency with US 70, it continues north connecting the cities of Farmville, Princeville, Scotland Neck, and Murfreesboro, before finally entering Virginia. The entire route is mostly rural two-lane road, expanding into four-lane in city areas or when overlapped with another state or U.S. highway. US 258 travels a total of 154 miles (248 km) in North Carolina.
