O enredo se desenrola com a chegada de Manoel Antônio da Silva à cidade de Camaçari - BA caminhando pelos trilhos da estrada de ferro. Empreendedor, ele enriquece e gera 23 filhos com 4 mulheres. Entre estas, Maria Assumpção - uma pioneira do feminismo, e Nazinha, a empregada submissa.

Tudo muda depois de Manoel Antônio cometer um 'pecado imperdoável' e fugir. Enquanto ele desbrava dezenas de cidades abrindo padarias com sua filha Lelé, toda a família é assediada pelas vicissitudes da vida.

Vicissitudes

Vicissitudes é uma palavra utilizada para expressar os acontecimentos favoráveis ou adversos que afetam a vida das pessoas. Elas chegam como uma sucessão de alternâncias e instabilidades num vai-e-vem imprevisível.

Embora as vicissitudes também contemplem coisas boas, há pessoas que atraem o mal deliberadamente para si. Por acreditar que não sofrerão as recompensadas de seus atos, acabam flertando com o perigo. Para estas, as vicissitudes chegam sem misericórdia, revelando sua imprevisibilidade numa reação desproporcional de causa e efeito.

Há outras que se afastam do mal, mas ainda assim são surpreendidas quando os elementos negativos das vicissitudes arrombam as portas da alma e ali tentam fazer morada. Entretanto, a pureza dos inocentes acaba protegendo-os dos acontecimentos que, em princípio, pareciam terríveis. O mal, quando não é provocado, inexplicavelmente, se converte em benção.

No momento em que enfrentamos os reveses da vida, muitas vezes não conseguimos interpretá-los. No entanto, ao final de cada ciclo, as vicissitudes trazem esclarecimentos que facilitam a compreensão de acontecimentos até então obscuros. É a pedagogia das vicissitudes: ensinando e esclarecendo a respeito das coisas boas e rins que se passaram.

Sobre o Autor

Ronaldo Santana Santos nasceu em Camaçari - BA, morou em Porto Alegre - RS e atualmente reside em Jundiaí - SP com sua esposa e as três filhas.

Na vida profissional, fez carreira como executivo de grandes empresas industriais globais. Após concluir o doutorado na Unicamp, passou a atuar como professor e coordenador de curso superior nas áreas de administração de empresas, logística e engenharia.

Além de se divertir como escritor, atua como docente em cursos de pós-graduação, realiza palestras e desenvolve pesquisas e projetos de consultoria.
