About the Book

The Newest Dark Fantasy Novel from Zinna Kingsley!

Between Reality and Dream, there is Voidum ... where lucidity is indistinguishable from madness, and only a thin line divides the evil from the good....

Kurt Silas, an intelligent but troubled teenager, descends inexplicably into insanity until he has literally disappeared into his own hallucinations. Now Kurt finds himself in ... Hell. His only hope of escape is to journey deep into the Center of this endless, fantastical, and terrifying world ... the place where madness begins....

Meanwhile, Sarah Browning, his beautiful girlfriend, is at her wit's end, but she is determined to save him. She enlists the aid of Dr Emerson Jeffries, but little does she realize that he is a deranged scientist with profane ambitions who will stop at nothing to discover the secret of Kurt's madness ... which he believes will give him access to the root of unimaginable power....

A taste of Voidum:

... She heard a noise. She cocked her head stiffly and listened. Her ears strained to pick up the sound, but it had been transitory. She was sure it had come from behind the stairs, though, the one place she hadn't checked (fool!). She brought her foot back to the floor and, holding her breath, walked silently around the steps for a look. All was blackness here, beneath the stairs. Dense, pitch, impenetrable gloom, her eyes could not focus; they ached as they roamed the darkness for something to fix on. She leaned forward, peered into the ink. Suddenly, there was movement, a shifting of the air in front of her face, a shuffling of feet on the floor. There was a blur, then hands on her shoulder, around her neck, big strong hands with fingers like iron bands. They clasped her throat and squeezed, ever so subtly, enough to say, "If you scream, you won't for long." She took the message and channeled her panic into bulging eyes and convulsing limbs. Strong arms enclosed her and pulled her back into the darkness under the stairs. She smelled bitter dampness in here, mixed with the faintest whiff of urine. The hand moved from her throat to her mouth. She felt cold lips and hot breath in her ear.

"Who are you?" It was a harsh whisper, hoarse and a bit crazed.

"What--I--I'm just looking for someone. Please, let me go. I promise I won't tell anyone about you." She figured he was a bum, living beneath the hospital--as nice a place as any homeless person could hope to find--warmth, shelter, food, the works.

"Who are you looking for?"

"It doesn't matter."

"Yes! It does! Who?"

"K--Kurt Silas is his name."

"Are you Miss Sarah Browning?"

Surprise flooded her belly. "You know him?"

"Of course. I'm Doctor Jeffries. I'm sorry I didn't recognize you. It's dark in here--hard to see." He eased his grip on her, although he did not entirely let go. Not yet.....
About the Author: Zinna Kingsley writes tales of the fantastic, grotesque, and horrific. Her main literary influences are: Stephen King and Clive Barker for their blockbuster talent; China Miéville, Philip Pullman, and Philip K. Dick for their unique and sharp slants on tradition; Edgar Allan Poe, Charles Dickens, and H. P. Lovecraft, grandmasters all, whose work has stood the test of time, against which all of us who follow are measured. If you enjoy any of these authors, Zinna Kingsley's fiction may be right up your alley!
