About the Book

Y GORON DDU - NOFEL ARSWYD YN GYMRAEG A SAESNEG - HORROR NOVEL IN WELSH AND ENGLISH - BREDEVOORT VAN DEN BERG

Deithiwch i galon llygredd, lle mae ffydd yn frwydfa olaf yn erbyn drygioni anhraethadwy. Mae "Y GORON DDU" yn arlunwaith o arswyd hanesyddol a dirgelwch seicolegol, wedi ei osod yn yr oes frwnt pan oedd Cwmni India'r Dwyrain yn llywio'r môr. Pan mae llong gadarn y VOC, y "Gobaith Da", yn cael ei chwalu gan greigiau arfordir anghofiedig, mae'r criw a oroesodd yn credu eu bod wedi dihuno o'u hunllef. Ond nid ond dechrau eu gwrthdrawiad ydyw.

Journey into the heart of corruption, where faith becomes the final bulwark against unspeakable evil. The Black Crown is a work of historical horror and psychological mystery, set in the brutal age when the Dutch East India Company ruled the seas. When the sturdy VOC vessel The Good Hope is shattered against the rocks of a forgotten coastline, the surviving crew believe they have awakened from a nightmare. In truth, their ordeal has only just begun.

Wedi eu rhwydo ar ynys anial, maent yn cael eu hudo gan Lukas de Witt, dyn sy'n hawlio bod llais iddo gan rym tywyllach. Nid stori am oroesiad yn unig yw hon, ond glanio i mewn i fyrddryn seicolegol lle mae cred uniongred yn torri ar ddieter cosmig. Mae Lukas de Witt, yn arfog â thrysor hynafol a rheibus a elwir y Goron Ddu, yn cyflawni gwaith y Diafol, gan droi meddyliau ac eneidiau'r crwydriaid. Wrth i'r llinell rhwng iachawdwriaeth a damnioldeb ddiflannu, gorfodir y goroeswyr i wynebu nid yn unig dyn gwallgof, ond y drygioni goruwchnaturiol sy'n ei ryngu bodd.

Stranded on a desolate island, they fall under the spell of Lukas de Witt, a man who claims to speak with the voice of a darker power. This is not merely a tale of survival, but a descent into a psychological abyss where orthodox belief collides with cosmic indifference. Armed with an ancient and ravenous relic known as the Black Crown, Lukas de Witt carries out the Devil's work, corrupting the minds and souls of the castaways. As the boundary between salvation and damnation dissolves, the survivors must confront not only a madman, but the supernatural evil that empowers him.

"Mae anadl y diafol yn chwythu heno dros y "Gobaith Da". Mae Maarten van Dyk yn ei deimlo yn y cyfnos, yn ymblethu drwy'r rhaffau. Mae arogl per a phyg ymhobman. Mae'n meddwi'r pen, yr awyr hon, a Maarten, sy'n dal yn ifanc a'i un ar hugain oed, yn teimlo ei enaid yn gwanhau am y tro cyntaf. Mae'n ceisio gweddïo, ond mae'r geiriau'n sownd yn ei wddf.

The devil's breath blows tonight over the "Good Hope". Maarten van Dyk feels it in the twilight, threading through the rigging. Everywhere is the sweet smell of tar. It intoxicates the mind, this air, and Maarten, still young at twenty-one years old, feels his soul weaken for the first time. He tries to pray, but the words stick in his throat.

O'i gwmpas mae'r cefnfor yn gorwedd yn llonydd llwyr, yn ddrych o blwm o dan awyr drwm.

Around him the ocean lies dead calm, a mirror of lead beneath a heavy sky.

"Mae'n gwneud i ti deimlo'n fach, on'd yw, Van Dyk? Y gwagle mawr."

"It makes you feel small, doesn't it, Van Dyk? The great nothing."

Mae Maarten yn clywed y geiriau. Mae Lukas de Witt, yr Is-fasnachydd, yn sefyll wrth ei ochr mor ddistaw fel y gallai fod wedi bod yno drwy'r amser. Mae ei ddillad yn daclus, ei wyneb wedi'i eillio, ei wallt yn berffaith. Mae arogl sebon, dail crin a chopr yn dod oddi arno.

Maarten hears the words. Lukas de Witt, the Under-Merchant, stands beside him, so quietly that he might have been there all along. His clothes are neat, his face shaved, his hair perfect. He smells of soap, dry leaves, and copper."
