He earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Raiganj University, Raiganj, West Bengal, India and ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI), Cuttack, Odisha, India. Dr. Mitra holds M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), India, and B.Sc. in Biotechnology from Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, Vidyasagar University, India. He is an esteemed alumnus researcher of the Division of Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry at ICAR- Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, India.
