Dieter SchwampeDieter Schwampe, admitted to the Hamburg Bar in 1985, has been practising law in Germany for thirty-three years. Since twenty-nine years he is a partner of the law firm Dabelstein & Passehl, which after a recent merger is now called Arnecke Sieth Dabelstein, one of the largest German firms in the areas of maritime, aviation, logistics and transport. Dieter Schwampe specializes in maritime law, general transportation law and marine insurance law. In his career, he has published dozens of books and articles on the mentioned subjects. He is the current President of the German Maritime Law Association (Deutscher Verein für Internationales Seerecht), a member of the Executive Council of the Hamburg Association on Insurance Science (Hamburger Verein für Versicherungswissenschaft) and a past member of the Executive Council of the Transport and Forwarding Law Committee of the German Lawyers Association. He is also member of the Executive Board of the Comité Maritime International (CMI), Vice Chairman of the Association International de Droit des Assurance (AIDA) and a member of the Legal & Liability Committee of the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI). He is also a member of the German Maritime Arbitrators Association (GMAA) and is regularly appointed as arbitrator.
