Els De WindEls de Wind received a Law Degree from Radboud University in The Netherlands in 1983 and an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from Free Brussels University in 1984. Since 1985, she practices as a labour and employment attorney, both i contentious and non-contentious matters, with Van Doorne N.V., based in Amsterdam, where she heads the International Employment Team. She operates at the interface of employment law and corporate law in cases involving restructurings, mergers and acquisitions (including TUPE), outsourcing, employee data privacy, workers representation and (European) works councils, remuneration and executive compensation. She is known for her in-depth knowledge of cross-border and European labour and employment law. In 1999, Els set up the worldwide employment law network within Landwell and PricewaterhouseCoopers, managing this network as Global Head of Employment until the merger between Landwell and Van Doorne on 1 January 2004. Ms De Wind is a member of and recently stepped down as Co-Chair of the Employment and Industrial Relations Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) and is a member of and from 2009 to 2011 served as Chair of the Board of the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA). She is a Council Member of IBA's Global Employment Institute where she currently serves as Vice-Chair for Institutions. She is an active member of the American Bar Association (ABA) and of the regular Dutch employment law associations. Ms De Wind serves on the Editorial Board of PLC Cross-Border Labour & Employee Benefits Handbooks and the Alumni Board of the Faculty of Law of Radboud University Nijmegen. She has numerous publications and book contributions in her name. She is the co-editor of the Explanatory Notes on the International Employment Law in the annual publication of SDU Commentary Employment Lawand an annotator onEuropean and Private International Lawfor the monthly TAP Labor Law Magazine. Ms De Wind is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences in The Netherlands and elsewhere in the world. Ms De Wind teaches a variety of courses and participates in a number of think tanks on international labour and employment law.
