Guven TolgaDr Tolga Güven (born on 14 August 1974) studied medicine in Marmara University Faculty of Medicine and received his medical doctor degree in 1998. He obtained his specialist degree (Ph.D. equivalent for medical doctors in Turkey) in medical ethics an history of medicine in 2002 in Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine, where he worked with Prof. Nermin Ersoy and prepared his thesis on the use of written disclosure in informed consent. Güven had the chance to complete his compulsory military duty in Gülhane Military Medical Academy's Department of Medical Ethics and History of Medicine, where he was able to contribute as an author to empirical research articles in the field of medical ethics, as well as several other papers in medical ethics and history of medicine presented in various congresses. He has been accepted as a lecturer in the Marmara University Faculty of Medicine's Department of Medical Ethics and History of Medicine in 2006. In addition, he currently serves as a member in the Local Ethics Committee of Marmara University Faculty of Medicine and in tstanbul Chamber of Physicians' Ethics Committee. Güven also has experience as a translator in the field of medicine, and he recently translated the EuroSOCAP (European Standards on Confidentiality and Privacy in Healthcare) Guidelines to Turkish.
