She taught for more than twenty years at tertiary level, and was a member of the South Australian working party of the Australian Dictionary of Biography. Her book NothingSeemed Impossible: Women's education and social change in South Australia 1875-1915 was published in 1985, and the first edition of In Her Own Name in 1986. She lived in Adelaide.
