Joe Biden, the 46th president of the United States, was first elected to the Senate in 1972, and served there until 2009, when he assumed the office of vice president under Barack Obama for two terms. He grew up in New Castle County, Delaware, andgraduated from the University of Delaware and the Syracuse University College of Law. He lives in Wilmington, Delaware.
