John GlanvilleJohn Glanville, a civil engineer by profession, was born in 1932 at the time when the great pre-war resurgence of English clockmaking was coming to life. After graduating from Imperial College, London, and working for many years as a practising civi engineer, he retired and then had more time for his other interests. The project with Bill Wolmuth to form a collection of twenty-century domestic mechanical clocks for the British Museum was the subject of the Dingwall-Beloe Lecture presented by John at the Museum in 2009.
