Philip Pearlstein

Philip Pearlstein (1924–2022) was an American painter best known for modernist realism nudes. Cited by critics as the preeminent figure painter of the 1960s to 2000s, he led a revival in Realist art. Pearlstein has written many articles for major rt journals and his contribution to contemporary art is acknowledged by his many awards and honours. His paintings are held in collections of over 70 public art museums including the Art Institute of Chicago; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; MoMA, New York and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.
