About the Book

Ransom Doxie, megachurch pastor deposed on false charges, sulks alone in a garret where the tabloids can't find him. The former US Army Infantry LTC is now retired from his second career, but soon is tasked with an urgent new mission. He is sent to Northern Edge, Michigan, a picturesque but economically depressed village on the shores of Lake Superior, on the cusp of renewal. Ransom may be the sole heir to the jewel of Hazard Bay, Bastion Isle. He has orders to defend it and protect its secrets, but he can't do it alone. Who knew the beautiful people staffing a mysterious company headquartered outside Northern Edge were demons reanimating human flesh? They want Ransom's island for their own, and they would kill to get it. Building an alliance, Ransom is using every military skill he's ever learned, and a few new ones, as he leads his small army into battle. There will be conflict. There will be thrills. There even could be love. But what makes Bastion Isle so desirable? Are Ransom and the alliance willing to pay the price his mission demands? Will it end up costing him his life?
About the Author: James Edward Otis has populated hundreds of waste cans with his writing projects through many years. The county landfill added a hill in his honor. He sees that as the price of earning his journeyman status as an author. He writes both fiction and nonfiction. He received most of his undergraduate education at Marion College, Marion, Indiana, which was the ancestor of today's Indiana Wesleyan University. He completed the balance of his undergraduate and Masters degrees in Theology and his PhD in Biblical Studies through extension institutions. James spent a number of years in pastoral ministry, generally doing what he calls trench work, helping revitalize depressed congregations and planting new churches. The majority of that time he was bivocational, supporting his family in the world of business. It kept him real. He has preached the Gospel in Africa, South America and the Philippines, in addition to the United States. Today he writes full time, and is an avid artisan woodworker from his home workshop. His refined rustic and primitive creations sell across the U.S. and internationally. His former military service helps inform the conflicts in his Northern Edge Adventure Series. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann "Makki" McDiarmid Otis. They raised four children and are the proud grandparents of twelve, whom he calls his twelve apostles, even through they consider that to be ridiculous grandpa humor. One neurotic dog and three needy cats round out his posse. James is nearing completion of a nonfiction book titled Broken Devil. It addresses the realities of spiritual warfare in the Christian context, and is based on his long experience, both on the giving and receiving ends. For further information on that and other forthcoming publications, including the next installments in the Northern Edge Adventure Series, join his Reader's Club by visiting his website, www.JamesEdwardOtis.com Inquiries regarding author appearances, speaking engagements and seminars may be directed to James@JamesEdwardOtis.com.
