Charleston, SC April 1861 The threat of war hung in the air around Charleston, for days there were whisperings of strange new weapons being made ready for war with the union. William Douglas had heard about the strange events and of the rumors of strangers from far away that had come to lead the Confederate Army in the formation of a new nation, but he alone knew what those rumors meant, it meant the Deceivers were back and it wouldn't be long before they found him. It was one of the worst thunder storms in recent memory, William Douglas thought as he sat in his study in the warm glow of the fire listening to the thunder crash and seeing the brilliant blue flashes of lighting light up his study. The rain was pelting his window as if trying to break through the glass. William liked it here but no matter how much he tried it would never be home and there was nothing to be done about that. A sudden crash of thunder rattled overhead and seemed to shake the entire house, the storm was raging in such a fury that it took William a moment to discern the tapping on his window from that of the rain. He looked up from his reading and in the window was someone he never thought he would see again, but at that very instant he knew that he was in danger. William rushed to the door and outside onto the porch, what he found shook him to the core. It was Allan Knight lying in a pool of his own blood holding tight to a Gold Pocket Watch, his breathing clearly labored; it looked as if he had been shot or stabbed. William noticed that Allan was trying to talk; he bent down with his ear near the mouth of his dying friend to hear the last words of his longtime friend. "They have found you, you must go quickly, there is no time, and nothing can stop it now." Allan said gasping and coughing dark blood from his mouth. "Go my friend, GO! I am sorry I failed you" were the final words that Allan Knight spoke as all life left him, and with him went the only one who knew who William Douglas was.
