Der Sport stand in den letzten Jahren unter verschiedenen Blickwinkeln in der Diskussion. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit fand dabei die sich verstarkende Tendenz zu einer wachsenden Professionalisierung und Kommerzialisierung des Sports. Professionalisierung und Kommerzialisierung bedeutet unter anderem, daB aile am Sport Beteiligten, ob Sportier, Trainer, Vereine, Verbande oder Veranstalter, ihr Tun oder Unterlassen in immer starkerem MaBe nach betriebswirtschaftIichen Gesichtspunkten ausrichten. Mit dem Marketing als einem der wichtigsten Aufgabenbereiche der Betriebswirtschaftslehre war diese Tendenz von Anfang an eng verbunden. Sportwerbung und Sportsponsoring sind die beiden Sachverhalte, die schon relativ frtih in der Fachwelt im Gesprach waren und in der Marketing- Kommunikation ihren Niederschlag fanden; aber auch das Marketing ftir die Non Profit Organisation Sportverein wird schon seit einer Reihe von Jahren diskutiert und zum Teil praktiziert. Die vorliegende Arbeit von lnes van der Schalk befaBt sich in diesem Kontext mit einer Problemstellung, die bislang in der wissenschaftIichen Auseinandersetzung mit dem Sponsoring ausgespart blieb: mit dem Sponsoring-Management der Gesponserten. Am Beispiel des Managements der Non Profit Organisation Golfverein wird im Rahmen einer sorgfaltig durchgeftihrten empirischen Untersuchung die Auspragung der Professionalisierung dieses Managements in Bezug auf das Sponsoring analysiert. Die gewonnenen empirischen Erkenntnisse ermoglichten es, fundierte Gestaltungs- und Handlungsaussagen ftir das Sponsoring-Management von Golfvereinen abzuleiten, die von ihrem Grundsatz her auch anderen Sponvereinen Orientierungshilfen ftir die Handhabung des Sponsoring bieten.
